A good pair of socks, the most important thing is comfortable, deodorant, durable, these characteristics are mainly determined by the fabric of the socks, not the brand decision!!
At present, the main fabrics of socks on the market are: cotton, hemp, viscose, polyester (polyester fiber), nylon, acrylic, spandex (elastic fiber)
Each fabric is blended according to its characteristics, which determines the quality of a pair of socks.
Comfortable socks, need to have both "sweat absorption", "sweat" and "elastic" ability
- Sweat absorption ability, and the hydrophilic groups inside the fabric -
The more hydrophilic groups, the higher the hygroscopic capacity.
Natural and regenerated fibers such as cotton, hemp, wool and viscose have many hydrophilic groups and good hygroscopic properties.
Polyamide, acrylic, polyester, spandex and other synthetic fibers have relatively few hydrophilic groups and poor moisture absorption ability.
The order of their sweat absorption ability is roughly:
Viscose > Hemp > Cotton > Nylon > Wool > Acrylic > Polyester > Spandex
- Perspiration ability, related to the structure of the fabric fiber -
The pores, grooves or different shapes of the fiber surface, the more irregular the arrangement, the stronger the perspiration ability.
For example: cotton, the cross section of the fiber is waist round, like a straw inside, good moisture absorption, but the ability to sweat is general.The cross-section of hemp is multi-shaped, also has a cavity, the surface has irregular grooves, so it has good hygroscopicity and fast drainage;
But synthetic fibers such as: polyester, the cross section is round, fewer pores, plus the fabric is very tight, moisture absorption and moisture removal are poor.
In summary, the sweat absorption capability of the fabric is ranked as follows:
Hemp > Viscose > Cotton > Nylon > Wool > Polyester > Acrylic > Spandex
